This preview felt like I was reading a script to one of those quirky comedy TV shows. There were some parts I snickered at, the people at the new job are over the top and I was waiting to hear he was imagining all of it. I've honestly never thought too much about a novel like this. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed the first look.
I like how there are random "reader" comments thrown in there as narration. I get the vibe of Everybody Hates Chris and the Youtube series Awkward Black Girl. I expect a series of unfortunate events to come for the main character. I can see this being an exaggerated version (or one would assume) of being black in corporate that can give a good laugh but also shed light. Lastly, the incorporation of aave surprisingly isn't cringeworthy, I'm going to guess the author is actually black and not one of the white men writing those ridiculous urban e-books and selling them on Amazon. I expect the book to be a quick easy read. Congrats to the author on the upcoming release. I'm adding it to my "to be read" list.
