I was thrilled to be able to claim a copy of Black Buck as I thoroughly enjoyed the first impression of the book. I was not disappointed once I read it. I very much enjoyed the main character Darren as well as the overall story and the phenomenal writing style. Darren is a young, intelligent and talented man who was first in his class at Bronx Science. However instead of going to college he continues to live at home and despite despising coffee, he has a job at Starbucks. He has a chance meeting with an executive at a huge company and he is hired there. At his new job he reinvents himself as Buck and finds he is the only black employee. He becomes a ruthless salesman that his only family and friends no longer recognize. A tragedy strikes at home and Darren decides to help others become more successful in the work place. I found the book to be inspirational in addition to entertaining and I will be recommending it to my family and friends.
