"Black Buck" is annoyingly hilarious. It's a satirical "memoir" of Darren "Buck" Vender, a fictional character, that gave me all the emotions. I initially was drawn to this book after reading the blurb because of the NYC scene, the American dream, and startup life.

Following Buck's life from zero to hero in the tech startup world, the story starts with Buck telling the reader about his mission to write this "salesman book 101." Buck was an unambitious young man who worked at Starbucks, but his career took off after taking the opportunity to work as a salesman in a tech company called Sumwun. He experienced the racism that happened in the workplace and elite privilege.

I loved the writing style––very conversational and engaging. It truly felt like reading a "memoir" from a salesman. However, I couldn't connect with the other characters because Buck sadly took all the spotlight, not enough time for others to shine. The ending wasn't something that I would expect, but it was unpredictable. For a debut novel, Mateo Askaripour sold it!
