Holy @#$%! Behind Every Lie takes off like a rocket and does not stop! From the first words of the prologue until the last page of the preview, I did not want to stop reading. In fact, I could not get through those 43 pages fast enough! Eva wakes up in the hospital, her whole body in pain, with no idea how she got there. A doctor informs her that she has been struck by lightning, but she will be okay. When a detective comes in to ask her some questions, she begins to have flashes of memory where she is holding a knife and her mother is on the floor covered in blood. She finds out that her mother has been murdered, then is told by her brother that the police think she was there when her mother was killed. But was she? And did she have something to do with her mother's death? I absolutely LOVED Christina McDonald's first book, The Night Olivia Fell, and I can tell that I am going to love Behind Every Lie just as much. Christina McDonald's writing is easy to read and understand, but it draws you in and offers so many emotional aspects along with the mystery that the characters are trying to solve. She knows just how to encompass the human spirit along with all the evils that can reside within humans, as well. I cannot WAIT to read the rest of this book!
