I really enjoyed Christina McDonald's other novel, The Night Olivia Fell, so I had high hopes for this one. It definitely lived up to my expectations! The writing is great and the storyline is not only suspenseful, but also heartfelt. There were a lot of emotional parts because the core of the story centers around family and protecting your children and loved ones. I was expecting a psychological thriller, but got so much more.
There were a couple of triggers, like rape and the loss of a child, which made it hard to read at times, but the author treated it delicately so it did not take away from the story. I liked the ending and how it was all wrapped up. I would definitely recommend this one to others!
