I'm slowly but surely going through the old excerpts to try to rack up more points to get more freebie books. Life got in the way for a few months, but now I'm back at it. I'm trying to mostly go in alphabetical order by file names, but things sometimes get jumbled, so bear with me. This was the first one I started with on my attempt to hit the ones that I previously downloaded, though that set of files only goes up through January of this year.
The excerpt for this one had a solid hook, provided good descriptors - enough to be able to picture what was going on without being overburdened with detail - a tough tightrope for many authors to balance these days - and it had a fascinating description of a lightning strike. The pacing was excellent - it was rapid fire throughout the entirety of the excerpt. In light of all of these positives, this is a book that I will be purchasing in order to delve more deeply into the story. I'm very curious to see what happens next.
