I love books with a prologue that grabs your attention right away And this book is it! Author Christina McDonald kicks off her novel with great suspense and mystery. 10 minutes into reading BEHIND EVERY LIE, I knew that this is a page-turner.

We meet our main character, Eva Hansen, on the worst day of her life. After struck by lightning, she wakes up in a hospital with memory loss. Eva is told that her mom, Kat, was murdered the night before. The police consider Eva as a suspect. Eva is sure that she didn't kill her mom, but why does she have a flash of memory of her holding a bloody knife while her mom is on the floor, bloody and unconscious?

Bookish friends, this book has a great start, and it's even better as it progresses. It has plenty of drama, deception, and family secrets. Characters are complex and flawed, so life-like. And the writing style is excellent. I really enjoyed reading this book. My only complaint is the predictable plot. I could guess 2 important things that make up the plot, but still, it didn't spoil my reading experience.
