Great for those of us who don’t handle suspense well!

This book read in much the same way as McDonald’s first book: it goes back and forth between the past and the present, only this time it’s the daughter in the present and the mother in the past (reverse of what her first release was). Behind Every Lie is a great thriller, while being a little predictable. I am generally not a reader of thrillers or suspense because they can wind me up too much, but this one wasn’t quite as intense as others can be. Add to that a very real “I know who did it!!” factor no later than halfway through and it was a little easier for a scaredy pants like me to read!

If you like the idea of reading a thriller but can’t handle too much suspense, this might be a good place for you to start! It’ll help test whether or not thrillers might be your thing without making you lose too much sleep at night.
