What follow-up novel! Behind Every Lie was a fast paced ride through old lies and even older truths. I really enjoyed it. It was a very solid 4.5 stars for me. Fantastic novel by Christina McDonald. It truly had me from the prologue.

This story is told from 2 points of view. Eva, the daughter and Kat, the mother. The author does mother daughter relationships so well and I just love the way she writes them. This novel was no different. Eva knows there is something wrong, her mother is dead and she doesn't remember what happened or how she came to be outside of her house when she was STRUCK BY LIGHTENING. No joke. Obviously Eva's memory is a bit fuzzy and there is a horrible detective who thinks she killed her mother, plus her fiancé doesn't quite believe her either.

Kat is the mother and most of her story is told 25+ years ago, back when Kat and her daughter Eva were fabulous friends with Rose and her daughter Laura. Then tragedy struck and our story really takes off from there.

I feel like the novel was exciting and it really kept me intrigued and involved. I suspected everyone at least once. I had no idea where everything was going. And what a ride it was. My very small frustrations were that I felt it could have been a little longer and fleshed out a bit more detail in the end. It was moving so fast for the last 50 pages I felt as though I would have preferred it to be a bit more drawn out to enjoy it more. Also, Jacob messed me up a bit. I had trouble remembering who he was and I had to go back and find our first mention of him. This isn't a fault of the writer but more a fault of my own. I don't like going back to remember characters. I think what I am trying to say is that I wanted him to stand out more and be etched into my mind.

Overall great read and I would recommend to anyone who enjoys a good thriller with a superb mother daughter relationship!
