The twists and turns of discovering the secrets your mother kept from you develop as you go back and forth as the reader between Kat(the mother) and Eva(daughter) stories. I cringed at the risks Eva took in recollecting memories and her visits home and what she shared with the detective. And Eva is smart in staying one step ahead to assure minimal risks from those that want to see her dead. She discovers that the one person who tried to give her character and strength did it for her own good! Excellent read! Christina McDonald has done it again in this mystery/thriller!
