Engaging but predictable

I gave this one 3 stars because it’s a pretty engaging thriller, but also a tad generic and several of the ‘twists’ were super predictable. Besides that, it was the perfect fun, ‘family secrets’ style book (which is my fav genre!) for a lazy afternoon. I read the whole book in two sittings, because even though it was fairly predictable, I still wanted to see where it was going because McDonald does an amazing job at keeping the reader wanting to flip the pages!
I will say I definitely enjoyed her previous novel, The Night Olivia Fell, much more, but fans of that book should still enjoy Behind Every Lie. It is well written and not too dark, so it makes for a nice pallet cleanser if you’ve been reading some heavy material.
