Having read The Night Olivia Fell and loving it, I had pretty big expectations for McDonald's newest novel, Behind Every Lie.

Let me tell you, she did NOT disappoint!

Told in alternating timelines and perspectives of Kat and Eva, this story is intriguing, satisfying, frustrating, and heart-wrenching. I hated having to stop reading this at any point in time. It is fast-paced and made me want to keep turning pages into the night (if only my body would let me). Some parts I had figured out. Some I didn't. Some serious red herrings threw me off completely!

McDonald's mother-daughter relationships are realistically imperfect and the endings of both her novels show that in the best possible ways. She has proven to me that she is the QUEEN OF ENDINGS! I cannot tell you how beautifully written her endings are. Get your tissues ready, because the ending is sheer poetry. I will be reading anything she writes in the future!
