This is like a good airplane book. It’s a fast read because it doesn’t really get too deep on anything. I thought the author's use of the lightning strike was a nice change from the usual unreliable narrator who has just used substance abuse to numb her feelings for so long that she doesn't know what's real anymore. This is a woman who truly wants to know what's going on and doesn't seem to know how to find the answers. The plot was a little more complex than i had expected while reading, but that’s not a bad thing. There were many twists throughout the book, so even when I thought I had something figured out, it wasn't the "ultimate" truth of the story. I enjoyed that everything wasn't just dumped on us at the end, but sort of leaked out throughout the story to keep the reader interested. I thought the ending was surprising and satisfying, though I did have to slow down to understand everything that did happen.
