Eva is clearly a completely different personality than her mother Kat, who is murdered and Eva is the prime suspect. But Eva's memory is in fragments after being struck by lightning and she can't remember everything that happened that night. But it appears likely that Kat had secrets of her own that may just have made Eva into who she is. This excerpt definitely leaves off at a compelling point - making you wonder just what happened to Kat in her past that led to her death.
