I can't decide if I like this book or not. First of all, it's not the usual genre I pick up. But more importantly, I couldn't give this an honest rating without knowing how it ends. The writing is great and clear. The story so far is easy to follow. The characters have just the right amount of development for this early in the story. BUT! Due to its nature as a mystery, it could finish as just another predictable who-done-it story. I am definitely on the edge of my seat for where the teaser ended with the mother's narrative and would to see where that goes.
Because I've read this teaser, I absolutely want to finish it, but I wouldn't have picked this up on my own. I wouldn't pay full price for the book, but would buy it on sale or from library.
