That prologue, though! Talk about instantly sucking me into the excerpt - the characters, the pacing, the writing all make for a captivating read.

I liked the relationship between Eva and Liam, and was really intrigued by Eva's hidden past. I was already invested in these characters and their relationships with one another in the first two chapters, so by the time Eva was struck by lightning and her mom was murdered I was needing answers.
I enjoyed the poetic prose that helped to undercut the tension of the story as well. The descriptions of the characters and their surroundings painted a picture in my head, but they also didn't slow down the pacing of the story either. This will be a fast-paced and engaging read!
