The action of the book drew me in right away. The 911 call and the police officer at the scene builds the tension as to what has happened at this home. Has a child been harmed? Whose blood does the policewoman see? The shift to the past is also interesting as we know something went wrong with Maddie and Ian's relationship. This is a very intriguing beginning and I'd love to read more.
