Intriguing...like a fisherman catching a fish, the author reels you in. I really want to read this book!

The novel begins with a 911 call from a small house in rural Kansas. The caller is frantic and the call is disconnected after only a few seconds. The dispatcher radios for help, and the first police officer to arrive sees blood on the hallway floor so decides to enter. She is concerned about the child who must live there. Flashback to Maddie getting counseling and writing her fears and her greatest fears seem to be for a child named Charlie and a man named Ian who can’t be trusted alone with Charlie for some reason. The mystery grows! Flashback again to the first time Maddie met Ian. This time her best friend Joanna is introduced. Interesting first look. Intriguing way to write that makes me want to read more so that I can know more about Maddie’s story. I really want to read this book!
