First, the cover is one that I would pick up at the bookstore and immediately read the inside cover. I have never heard of this author, but it drew me in. Second, any book that has a blurb on it from Sarah Pekkanan is one that I would pick up and read. I love all of her books.
After reading the first couple of pages, I could tell that I would be hooked. I want to know what happened to the woman and the daughter. Waiting for the police officer to enter the house had me on the edge of my seat, so I could see reading this in an afternoon without putting it down.
The negative - I don't like the comparsion to Gone Girl. It's overdone and that book came out years ago. I wish editors/publishers would think of something new.
