Beautiful Bad is going to be full of heartache, and it's not going to be heartwarming or happy. It begins with a 911 call and segues back to a therapy appointment two weeks prior to the 911 call where the most heart breaking list is written of things that are scary.

This list referenced the young boy at Disney who was pulled into the lagoon and eaten by a crocodile. Or alligator. Just reading this list made my ears tear and I immediately felt sadness. It's difficult to read books where you know that children will be hurt. This book contains a young child, Charlie age three, and I just know that little guy is going to be hurt emotionally and possibly even physically.

Too much heart ache in this world right now. I need books of escapism. This is likely the right book for a reader who is looking for suspense and psychological darkness. I have been that kind of reader. It's just not the right book for me for right now.

The cover is intriguing. Leaving portions of the face shrouded add to the sense that this book is going to be one of peeling layers and making discoveries.
