The first chapter in this First Impression sets up the reader for a thrill, with the title of Day of the Killing and the discovery of what appears to be a violent crime scene. The reader is then brought back in time a bit, where we are led to feel concern over Maddie's mood and situation, and in the third chapter we are brought back even further to when the main characters seemingly first met.
