I liked how Beasts of Prey jumped back and forth from Koffi and Ekon's third person point-of-view, and Adiah's first person point-of-view from the past. It was interesting how the stories connected later on in the book.
I felt like I wanted more out of the jungle parts of the book. Like it almost felt to me like it was just there as filler and to be able to throw some monsters at the characters. The book felt very typical YA fantasy, except in a cool location. Main character has magic that she didn't know about, plus a lot more that I will leave out as to not be spoiler-y. The characters were likeable enough, and just on the interesting side of generic that made them not totally boring.
The few twists were interesting, although the cliff-hanger at the end was a bit frustrating. I felt like I needed a little more from this book, then it could have ended on some sort of cliff-hanger later. Overall a solid read.
