I really enjoyed this book! the plot sounded very interesting, and I added the book to my reading list before it was even released. The book is magical and ethereal, and I loved the main characters of the book, Ekon and Koffi. I loved getting to know each character as I read, and by the end of the book I really did grow to love them. I feel like Ayana Gray did an amazing job developing each character on their own, and then as a pair later on in the book.
I think the characters were really lovable, and I felt like I knew each of them by the end of the book. Gray did a great job of making me understand why each of them did certain things throughout the storyline.
By the end of the book, I wouldn't say that I felt changed by the story, but it certainly was a really fun read. I am looking forward to reading Beasts of ruin in the coming months! If you are looking for a fun young adult fantasy by a Black, Author, this is a great choice
