The book is a basic YA novel with the similar tropes. It does have magic and a good story line to go with it. I connected to the characters and wanted to know what happened and happens to them.the jungle scenes were cool and it reminded me of other books.
I liked finding out what secrets effi and Ekon were keeping and trying to figure out how and when we would find out the secrets. It was fun finding out if they were hunting or being hunted . What dangers would they face. I forgot to mention earlier that the characters are two black teenagers that form alliance with each other to face situations. There are a couple points of view and they are balanced well.
