Interesting fantasy world with compelling characters

While this fantasy world is completely different from the real world, it's incredibly easy to picture - the author dives right in and provides clear descriptions of the setting and explains the background without making it sound like a history lesson. I'm in love with the characters already! Great physical descriptions of the characters and their personalities shine through too. I can't wait to read the rest of this book!
