I liked the sample pretty of this pretty well, I'll see how much I like the rest of it since I'm not always a fan of "tromping through the wilderness" plots and judging from the description this might be one of those. But the opening chapters had great world building, a hint of a magic system to be further explored, and lots of interesting beasts.
