Deadly and Fascinating
The description of the book was enough to hook and after the first few chapters I am completely sold. I love the slightly creepy and very dangerous setting of the Greater Jungle, and the juxtaposition of a society that is modernizing and moving beyond magic and myth being thrown against magic that isn't supposed to exist and a murderous mythological beast.
While Koffi desperately wants to leave the Night Zoo I found it endearing that she worries about the people she will leave behind and regrets that she can't take them with her. Its nice to see a character who isn't so focused on herself that she forgets her actions will have consequences for other people. I also appreciate how Ekon seems to struggle with anxiety and insecurity.
I can't wait to read more about these characters and the beast that's threatening them both!
