This is a fun, contemporary “second chance” romance, in a wonderful setting. Alejandro, who has been gone from Key West, and avoiding his family, is forced home by injury. The girl he left behind, is a paramedic, and the two families conspire to bring them together again. The family dynamics drive this book - I love, love, love those interfering mamis. Even though the ending was a bit predictable — I’d have been so surprised if Alejandro and Anamaria did not end up together — I thoroughly enjoyed all the twists and turns along the way. There was a bit of a sub plot too - Alejandro’s family restaurant has financial troubles.
All in all - this was a delightful light read and a great escape from the trials of living through a pandemic. I’m hoping that there will be another book featuring these families - the meddling mamis are too good not to read about some more!
