Anchored Hearts is the adorable tale of Alejandro and Anamaría, two former high school sweethearts reunited. Ale and Anamaría had a difficult breakup, brought on in part by Alejandro's work travel schedule. After an accident on a work trip, Alejandro returns to Key West to recuperate in his childhood home. Anamaría is now a paramedic (and a trainer/social media up and coming star), and her mother sends her over to check on Alejandro. Their relationship rekindles, and while it's definitely not like no time has past, they manage to catch up pretty well.
I have not read the first book in this series, and it did not detract from my enjoyment of the book, but I think I will go back and read it now. Alejandro and Anamaría were adorable, and I loved their extended families as well. I also loved how Spanish words and phrases were used in the book, exactly as how someone who grew up speaking two languages would use it.
