Anchored Hearts by Priscilla Oliveras is the second book in her Keys to Love series, and takes the reader to Key West and the beautiful Cuban culture found there. The perfect beach read, this slow burn, second-chance romance has it all: energy, love, and even humor. I loved the main characters, Anamaria and Alejandro. There is no doubt from the beginning that these two, high school sweethearts separated due to circumstances, can stay apart. Toss in to meddling Cuban mothers that want their children to be happy and in love, conflict between Alejandro and his father, and sizzling desire between our love interests, and you have a story that must be savored. The author does a beautiful job of sharing the island landscape and culture with the reader, making this book a vacation between the book covers and the ideal beach read. The writing style makes this book easy to enjoy and it moves along at a pace that makes the reader wish to know what will happen next between Anamaria and Alejandro.
While this is the second book of the series, following first book Island Affair, it reads just fine as a stand-alone. Characters do cross between the two books, making it fun for the books to be read in order, but it's definitely not required to get the full enjoyment. But do yourself a favor and read them both!
