Anamaria Navarro's life gets turned upside down when her high school love returns to Key West. She hasn't seen the award-winning photographer, Alejandro Miranda, since he left to travel the world and pursue his career, and she chose to stay in Key West. Alejandro felt he could never return after a horrible fight with his father who told him to leave and not return. After an accidental nosedive off a waterfall leaves him injured, Alejandro is forced to return to Key West to recuperate. His mami and abuela welcome him with open arms, but his papi's response is chilly. Anamaria and Alejandro's mothers can't help but meddle and work to throw to the two together. Will they be able to leave the past in the past and embrace a new future or will they just end up hurting each other again?

Anchored Hearts is a super fun and flirty second chance romance. While the plot is a little predictable because of this trope, I still really enjoyed the book. I really liked the first book in the series as well, but ended up liking this one more as I felt Anamaria and Alejandro's relationship was far more realistic and believable than Luis and Sara's. I also really enjoy how Oliveras incorporates intimate moments without interrupting the overall story. I love that this book is more than just a romance. It also focuses on complicated family relationships and gives a glimpse into island life and Latinx culture. This was a great book to kick my spring break off with. I also feel like Oliveras is totally setting the reader up for a third book that will focus on Enrique, and I can't wait to read it (that is if it happens).
