I'm not a big fan of contemporary romance. I admit, sometimes I'll be in the mood (this is often when I'm feeling cheesy, usually around Christmas time) and I'll dabble in books I see garner positive reviews from my Goodreads friends, but it's not a genre I read books from often. So right away this book is not quite my cup of tea. Despite that, the writing itself is okay, the plot is definitely one many are either familiar with or can definitely understand to some extend, and I really appreciate the fact that we're seeing different kinds of faces/cultures than we normally would. As someone who understands Spanish I thought the first impression chapters were good but I wonder if non-Spanish speakers/readers will feel about the few Spanish words thrown into the mix. Just a thought. I also love the setting! All in all, it's nothing new as far as plot but it is different in the way it approaches it and the voices it brings to light through it's pages and I do think that makes all the difference.
