Anatomy of a Scandal seems to start off relatively strong. Wife waits for husband to come home so they can go to a dinner party, he's extremely late. When he gets home he sits her down and tells he's been having an affair for several months, but that's not the kicker--the real scandal is yet to come. The excerpt fades before we can find out what the actual scandal is, but it feels too lackluster for me to be too worked up to find out.
I think the writing style is fine, if not totally riveting. But then again, I have quite an aversion to authors who over-exaggerate the physical aspects of their characters, using cliched phrases like "his long eyelashes kissed his cheeks" makes me roll my eyes loudly.
