The cover starts the feeling, something is out there, hiding. The opening of the second chapter immediately sets a dark tone, a foreboding chill, a cheating spouse, possibly more?

Those that have had a partner that strayed, will feel that sinking feeling, the slight nausea the chill, the dread... it's hard to like a philandering character or feel sorry for the put upon spouse if they've gone through this before and didn't kick the sorry scoundrel to the curb. The description gives the hope that maybe he's not that bad of a guy. The wife married him after all and had children with him he must have some redeeming qualities.

The fact that it is a politician is characteristic of what we see printed in the newspapers and online on an almost daily basis. However, the intimation that the prosecution wants to destroy him and not cover it up is tantalizing. I'd read on to see if it's possible to see a cheating, liar get his comeuppance and not see the standard "stand by your man" and all will end well story.
