Sarah Vaughan does a beautiful job in this excerpt of painting a vivid picture in the reader's mind. I could clearly imagine the narrator's husband and children as they were leaving their house, even the surroundings that make up the front porch. These were included in the story that dropped little tidbits foreshadowing what is to come. I'm eager to see what direction this road will take...
