The excerpt begins from Sophie's point of view, the wife who will soon learn that her life and marriage are not what she thought they were. I will admit that when I saw the cover, I had the impression it was about a wife spying on her husband. However, after reading the excerpt I believe the wife is searching anywhere to find the truth to protect her husband and, thereby, to protect herself. A very intriguing excerpt, that along with the blurb about the book, makes me want to read more and find out what James' sins really are, whether he really is guilty and whether Sophie can find some semblance of peace and happiness at the end of the story.
