I've never loves historical romances as much as regular, nowadays romances. But even with that certain preference, this book waspretty good. The writing was excellent, and the historical time period was portrayed well, or as well as a non-history buff like me can tell. This books deserves an A+ regarding historical soundness and well-written prose.
I did have a few problems regarding the characters. They were very bland, in dialogue, narrative, personality, and even with each other. That's never good when the main plot is a romance. Another problem I had was that the plot never drew me in. It was, like I said, written phenomenally regarding the actual prose, but it lacked certain appeal, mostly in the missing emotional aspect, as well as the blandness.
All in all, this book would have been fabulous with more juice and passion, but as it is, it's great for those just looking for an easy and more smooth read.
