This book sounds like a very interesting historical fiction romance. From the opening line, where the main character states that it would have been better to fall in love with someone else rather than who he did fall in love with, tells a lot about this "improbable pairing."
I must also mention that I really liked the writing (at least of what I read so far). The descriptions were lush and it is really well-written.
