I am intrigued enough to continue but the first characters are a conundrum to me. Kim is a society woman, oh how we love to hate the rich, who wants to run the show, whatever that may be. Megan is the first of the conundrums. She thinks Kim is a bitch but her hatred seems rooted in her own bitchiness. When first introduced she is envious of a building technique wishing she had what this building had. Than she starts the internal dialog that displays her own snobbery. Kim is to well dressed, Kim is looking down on her, etc.

The second character is the hired killer Melody. What killer wears stilletos to an assassination. Particularly one who has committed 26 prior killings.

But maybe I’m the jaded one. There is a bit of detail in these 2 short chapters, ie. ”An oil-on-canvas gilt-framed portrait of Martha Stewart watched from her perch above the fireplace.” Nice touch that will never come up again and doesn’t need to. These little flourishes add so much to the character of place not person.
