Almost Damned is a sequel to Almost Mortal. It's a legal thriller that delves into the biblical myth that Angels and Demons roam the earth and have sired children. I loved the premise of this novel and was very excited for the opportunity to read it. I had not read the first book and based on the book blurb did not feel like that would be a problem. In hindsight I wish that I had read the first volume. I felt like I was continually trying to catch up with the story and that I had missed something vitally important that may have been conveyed in the first book. Other than that, this was a very good story. It is very fast paced and the action moves very fast, so it is important that the reader pay attention. It has a couple of very interesting moral and legal conundrums that really had me thinking. I loved how this book was written. It flowed (for me) like an old detective novel. I'm a big fan of Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law and in my head I could hear Gary Cole as the part of Samson Young. So those zingers in the novel really popped for me.
