The cover and synopsis are just odd. The cover looks more like a paranormal book with demons. But the synopsis reads almost like a legal thriller but it also reads as if there are elements of paranormal fantasy interwoven. Then the excerpt was just super odd. It starts off 4 years ago in Havana with some weird delusion? Or dream? Then it jumps 4 years to the middle of a criminal case and just gets weirder. No way would the witness, the victim, who's in the middle of testifying, be allowed to just sit in the hall by herself. The writing style is awkward to say the least and the story is just odd. Hard pass for me.
