I was pleased to receive a copy of Leslie Rule’s true crime book , A TANGLED WEB, from Bookish First and Kensington Publishers. This is not my usual genre to read. I know, however, I will be searching out more true crime books in the hope they are as exceptional as this one.
Other than the sociopathic stalker, I felt I got to know the characters in this story well. Ms. Rule introduced and described, through words and actions, the various personalities involved in the story with good detail. I cared about the welfare of those being manipulated and stalked by the horrible predator who kept sending harassing and threatening emails and phone messages. I wondered who might die and how the stalker would eventually be caught. I admired the police officers who devoted many hours of personal time on the case. I tried to understand the sociopathic personality and what causes a person to have no regard for others and their feelings. How can a person be so obsessed with another person they would pursue that person at all costs?
This was a well researched book and the kind of riveting story one wants to devour in one setting.
