A Spy in the Struggle combined elements of a thriller with social justice, an interesting and unusual combination. The main character is a former employee at a big name law firm and is recruited by the FBI, after she blows the whistle on her former firm, and subsequently forces the firm to shut down, which places her out of work. She is placed to work in an undercover mission and is assigned to taking down a grass-roots organization formed in her very own hometown. During her undercover mission she navigates social justice issues, romance with a member of the organization, and keeping her identity a secret.

The plot was fast-paced while still having enough details and narrative to form a picture in my mind. The one thing I had trouble with was keeping up with the number of characters and who was who. Otherwise, it was a nice read and I look forward to seeing what Aya de León writes in the future.
