I loved the character, Yolanda Vance in The Spy in the Struggle by Aya de Leon. She's a whistleblower who worked for a prestigious New York law firm. Yolanda turns in her corrupt bosses to save her career and goes to work for the FBI as a lawyer/spy. She is a strong feminist, successful lawyer and is sent undercover to a small California town, where she attended college two decades ago. She is heading back there just thinking she just has to spy on some black extremist teenagers, which turns out more than it seems, just one of the many plot twists. The book is well written, excellent storytelling, strong characters and some romantic suspense thrown in too. It's a real page-turner, can't put down thriller that I highly recommend.

Thank you BookishFirst for the giveaway from the author, Aya de Leon, and Kensington Publishing for my advanced copy.
