What a great way to finish off the holidays with this spy thriller! There's a lot to enjoy about this novel, and it really took the time to build up a mystery with an explosive ending. Yet, I expected nothing less.

My favorite part of A Spy In The Struggle was our protagonist's inner thoughts. They weren't disruptive to the writing and gave an interesting perspective to the story. While having many insights, her character really does elevate this novel from being just good to great.

If anything, I would say that the beginning is a little bit slower than I expected. But for more slow thrillers like this, it all depends on the ending and if you can put the book down and say "this was worth the wait". And yes, of course it was! Spies are always fun to read about, and combined with the deception and suspense with our deductive protagonist, it really wraps up to be one of my new favorites of 2021.
