I'm immediately intrigued by Yolanda Vance. A cool, black Harvard graduate harpoons her budding law career by acting as a whistleblower when her firm attempts a securities cover up. Working for the FBI is her plan B and good enough in the meantime, as her checking account dwindles down to nothing. It quickly becomes clear that she puts up with no nonsense and isn't afraid to stand up for herself. She is assigned to a case involving a black identity extremist organization in Holloway, California, where she attended college and previously coached at a teen center. Her connections will be critical to the case. I want to read more about her case, and I want to read about how she approaches it. At first glance, she reminds me of a smarter, slicker, more butt kicking Stephanie Plum. The cover is chic and stylish. I'm on board for this ride.
