"Your One & Only" is a very chilling and gripping book. I say chilling because the descriptions of genetic modification and manufacturing author Adrianne Finlay includes in the book are very realistic and a plausible outcome of what the future may bring. I like how the first chapters are cold, from the lack of real, deep 'human' emotions from the characters. It's certainly a good build up and contrast as to how Jack begins to interact with his world.

Jack is different from all the lads in his generation and he is alienated due to his differences from his peers as if his mere existence was a crime. Yet the only thing Jack can be accused of is one thing: being human.

So far, I'm finding this book as a good commentary on modern society. It can be a cold, impersonal place, but perhaps through the course of life, one can start finding their way.
