I'm not a twin, and I certainly don't have nine duplicate sister clones with whom I can commune emotionally, but Your One & Only makes either of these alternatives completely intriguing. What would it mean to live in a world in which I was perfectly understood and perfectly understood others, a world in which emotions are shared freely and easily and dealt with together? And what would it mean to be different in that world -- to not feel those emotions, to not be one of a cohort of clones. Or perhaps to be one of a cohort and yet be different, not quite identical, not quite the same, physically and emotionally. Adrienne Finley challenges our assumptions about what defines being human, being understood, being oneself. The answers to these questions will determine the fates two teens and the world in which they live.
