I won an ARC of this book from @CeladonBooks in exchange for an objective review. It was a pretty quick and easy read, but I found myself highlighting numerous passages to review again in the future. Murphy's writing style is very engaging, and she provides numerous examples of both positive and negative communication styles that illustrate her main point about the decline of listening (and thereby of communication and connection) in our current society. For those who, like me, read this book in hope of learning to be a better listener, she also suggests strategies to develop what she says is definitely an acquired skill that can be developed and enhanced with practice.
You're Not Listening is definitely a worthwhile read, and I'm happy to have a copy to keep handy for future reference.
