I was surprised at how interesting I found a book about listening to be! It was a slow read for me, but I find I read nonfiction better in smaller chunks. Murphy discusses how the most important parts of a conversation are not about what we say, but how we listen to others. This surprised me because I never realized that a conversation with someone doesn't require to advise per se to be meaningful. Reading her work showed me that how we reply to someone can truly influence the conversation, leaving us not truly knowing how someone feels. She also discussed how our actions and behavior can negatively affect a conversation and relationship with others. I believe anyone, particularly myself as a teacher, could do to read this book.
